Iris Gardens

LeRoy Lindeman in his Iris Garden just before he died
Grandpa LeRoy Lindeman loved the iris. He had several variety of this flower in his large iris garden at his home. He knew each one well. It was exciting for me to find these articles about his grandfather Herman F. F. Thorup in the newspaper. He also loved the iris and had his own iris garden.

Not only did he love iris, but so did his son, Herman F, and so did HIS daughter Myla, and so did her daughters, Barbara and Maurine.

My mother has iris in her garden that descended directly from Herman FF's iris....he actually cultivated his own iris, and made his own "species," I guess you could call it. The iris have travelled with us from Utah, to Oregon, to Arizona, and now to Delaware.
